ACADEMY: Pre-Season in Full Swing

The Academy are in full swing for pre-season, and the squad continues to lay the foundations for the games ahead.

Academy Senior Coach Afon Bagshaw looks forward to what is to come from this group of players

"As we complete the first block of pre-season, it's a good opportunity to reflect on what the players have achieved together. Over the past few weeks, they've embraced every challenge that has been put in front of them, showing commitment, resilience and a genuine desire to improve. While fitness and rugby development have been key focuses, I'm most pleased with the standards the group has set. The players have bought into our values of Support, Grit, Ownership and Growth, creating a positive environment where everyone is challenging themselves and each other to get better.

The first block has been about laying the foundations—building habits, developing relationships and establishing the culture we want to carry throughout the season. The effort shown by the squad has given us a platform to build from, but we all know there's still plenty of work to do.

We now move into the next phase of pre-season, where our preparation starts to become more game-focused. Our pre-season fixtures will provide an opportunity to test ourselves under pressure, put our training into practice and continue developing as individuals and as a team. They will also help prepare us for the opening block of the Regional Age Grade (RAG) competition, where we'll look to carry the standards we've built into competitive rugby.

We're excited for what's ahead, but we'll continue to take things one session and one game at a time. If this group continues to work with the same attitude and commitment they've shown throughout the first block, they'll give themselves every opportunity to grow and represent RGC with pride this season."
