Head Coach Jon Callard: Looking Forward to the Plate Final

Jon Callard looks forward to the Plate Final, as his side head to Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday (2.30pm)

It is the Plate Final,  our first final in nine years, and one we are immensely proud to be part of. We go into the game on the back of a strong win against Bridgend in semi-final.

Cup finals are occasions to be embraced and enjoyed. They present a unique challenge, one that should excite us all. We are extremely grateful to Cardiff RFC for making their facilities available for today’s match, a truly iconic ground where so many great players have graced the field over the years.

Finals are, in many ways, a test of learning and adaptability. They are judgement day, an opportunity to measure the progress we’ve made and test ourselves in a winner-takes-all environment. I believe only three players were involved the last time RGC reached a final nine years ago. I’m sure they carry special memories from that day.

And that’s what Saturday is about — creating memories.

From the youngest to the oldest member of the group, my hope is that we produce the very best version of ourselves. If we do that, we can walk away proud.

To our travelling supporters, thank you. Your backing means everything. Please give the boys a loud roar and help drive them on to what we hope will be a memorable and enjoyable day in the capital.

Let’s embrace the occasion.
