Jon Callard Commits for 26/27

RGC confirm Jon Callard as Head Coach for 2026/27 after impressive debut SRC season

RGC have confirmed that Head Coach Jon Callard has committed to the club for the 2026/27 campaign, following a highly successful first season in charge in the Super Rygbi Cymru (SRC).

RGC General Manager Alun Pritchard praised Callard’s impact, saying:

“In his first season as RGC Head Coach, Jon has done an outstanding job. He has brought the squad together, created a real sense of unity, and implemented an exciting style of rugby where everyone is playing for each other and for the badge. The second half of the season in particular was exceptional, with a fantastic run to the Plate Final and a strong 5th-place finish in the league. With continued support, I’m confident Jon can keep developing this team and achieve even greater success. I’m really excited to see what next season brings.”

Callard also shared his delight at extending his stay with the North Wales side:

“I’m pleased to announce and absolutely delighted to be staying on with RGC for the 2026/27 campaign.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the last year and the product we are developing to produce players for the future. To finish 5th in the league and reach the final of the Plate competition was a massive testament to the hard work and commitment shown by everyone involved throughout the season.

I genuinely love the concept of the league and the purpose behind it, and that is something that continues to be a huge attraction for me. The players have been an absolute joy to work with, and the rugby they have produced has been both rewarding and exciting to watch develop over the course of the year.

I’d also like to thank the supporters for their kind and warm messages. That support was a huge factor in my decision to stay on. The backing the team receives week in, week out is sensational, and it means a great deal to all of us involved with the club.

We recently had a very positive internal meeting and are now working towards delivering new initiatives around recruitment and player retention. The goal is to attract and retain talented players in the area, encouraging them to stay and work locally after completing their education therefore providing work and rugby for life.

Planning is already well underway for the new season, and in due course we’ll be announcing an exciting pre-season schedule that will provide excellent preparation for the campaign ahead.

Once again, thank you for all the support. Let’s continue working together to build this club into something really special over the next 24 months"

With preparations already underway for the new season, RGC will look to build on the strong foundations established in Callard’s first year, as the club continues its upward trajectory in the SRC.
