Moving On
James Brown: James has made a big impression in the short time he has been with us. Unfortunately, his season was cut short by injury in January, and he has recently undergone shoulder surgery, but we wish him and his partner Kyra all the best as they head to Rotherham where James joins the newly promoted Champ team.
Connor Dever: RGC’s scrum half and social secretary, Connor will be missed as he jets off to sunny Dubai and links up with his long-term partner. Who will forget his try at Ebbw Vale - we wish him all the best in his endeavours and look forward to hearing his stories from afar.
Charlie Probert: Cardiff Met is calling for our hard-hitting back row as he heads down the A470 to start a degree in Sports Management. Charlie is in the top 5 for nearly every stat a back row can be measured on this season in Super Rygbi Cymru and will be linking up with Cardiff Rugby in the summer. We hope that the move pays dividends for him both on and off the pitch.
Christian Hone: The second time of leaving, he will be reducing his considerable work commute from Manchester as he swaps RGC for Chester. A real team player, whose game time was limited in the second half of the season, we’re sure he’ll go very well in Nat 2 across the border and will be keeping an eye on his progress.
Billy McQueeney: Billy postponed his retirement last year when we came calling, and for that, we’ll be forever grateful. He has put in some real shifts this season, redefining himself as a line-out operator, whilst adding valuable experience to a very young pack. Billy won’t be going far, though as he’s looking to coach with our age-grade teams and use all of that knowledge for the benefit of our next generation.
Caio Parry: He swept the floor at our recent awards evening and will be taking up a professional contract with the Dragons Senior Academy this summer. The boy has grown into a man and it's time for him to fly the nest and test himself upon the biggest stage in the URC. We have faith in his abilities and are sure he’ll do the whole region proud.
General Manager Alun Pritchard -
"I’d like to wish all of our departing players the very best of luck in their futures, whatever they may hold. All have given their utmost for RGC whilst they have been here and although it's sad to see players go, we have to look to the future and continue to develop our home-grown talent.
In addition, we will also be looking to add one or two new faces to the squad and will make further announcements as and when we’re in a position to do so."
