Hours of Work:
15 hours per week plus matchdays
Potential for a full-time role for the right candidate

RGC General Manager

Responsible for:
RGC Super Rygbi Cymru (SRC) Players

Contractual Status:

  • Consultant
  • 9-month role

Role Summary

  • Lead the RGC SRC team in preparation and competition.
  • Support the delivery of rugby content to RGC Senior Academy players, maximising their rugby potential.
  • Provide coach development workshops for pathway and community coaches across the RGC region.

Key Responsibilities, Tasks and Activities

  • Plan, coordinate, and lead all aspects of RGC SRC training, selection, and competition.
  • Develop and implement a style of play aligned with RGC’s regional playing philosophy.
  • Deliver regular previews, feedback, and reviews of training and competition linked to IDPs and ongoing learning.
  • Succession plan, retain, and recruit players (with Academy Manager) to build a successful, sustainable SRC team prioritising North Wales talent.
  • Promote and reinforce the vision and strategic purpose of RGC and the North Wales Development Region.
  • Help develop a positive culture within RGC SRC and Academy, aligned with WRU and RGC standards and values.
  • Support the development of relationships with academic and commercial partners.
  • Protect private athlete information in line with WRU HR Department guidelines.
  • Carry out duties in support of the WRU Group Strategic Mission, Purpose and Values.

Person Specification

Experience & Knowledge

  • Previous experience in rugby coaching, ideally at Player Development or Professional level.
  • Strong understanding of high-performance coaching and the needs of elite young players.
  • Proven experience in setting goals, targets, and implementing action plans.
  • Detailed knowledge of Welsh Rugby structures and operations, from club to national level.

Skills & Qualifications

  • WRU Level 4 coaching award (or willingness to work towards).
  • Sports science or related degree (preferred).
  • Excellent IT skills: Apple Mac, Google Suite, Sportscode, and Microsoft software.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh (desirable).

Other Requirements

  • Valid UK driving licence.
  • Role subject to enhanced DBS disclosure and ongoing review.
