Job Description

Job Title:
RGC Senior Team Strength & Conditioning Coach

Salary:
£15 per hour

Location:
Parc Eirias, Colwyn Bay, North Wales

Hours of Work:
10 hours per week plus matchdays
Flexibility required for evenings and weekends as necessary

Responsible to:
RGC General Manager

Responsible for:
RGC Senior Players

Contractual Status:
Casual, 9-month role

Role Summary

Design and implement all aspects of strength and conditioning, nutrition, and lifestyle management to players within the RGC Senior Team.

  • RGC Senior Team and Academy Staff

Key Responsibilities, Tasks and Activities

  • Plan and coach physical development (athletic, functional, and technical) for RGC Senior Team players.
  • Work with Academy staff to establish and review long-term development plans for tracked academy players.
  • Deliver strength and conditioning interventions at RGC Senior Team matches and training.
  • Perform physical testing of players and monitor development.
  • Keep records and provide regular reports on player progress.
  • Promote and reinforce the vision and strategic purpose of RGC and the North Wales Development Region.
  • Contribute to a positive team culture in line with WRU and RGC standards and values.
  • Manage relationships with key suppliers.
  • Protect private athlete information in line with WRU data protection guidelines.
  • Carry out duties in support of the WRU Group Strategic Mission, Purpose and Values.

Person Specification

Experience & Knowledge

  • Previous experience as a strength and conditioning coach.
  • Experience in long-term athletic development programmes with athletes at different stages.
  • Experience working within a team sport environment.
  • Proven ability to set clear goals, targets, and implement action plans.
  • Ability to communicate in Welsh (desirable).

Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree-level qualification (or equivalent) in sport science or related area, specialising in physical preparation of athletes.
  • Ability to coach technical aspects of physical development, including:
    • Running fundamentals (linear and multidirectional speed)
    • Weightlifting and derivatives
    • Strength and conditioning field-based and weight training practices
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Other Requirements

  • Valid UK driving licence.
  • Role subject to enhanced DBS disclosure and regular review.
