Woven in Slate: RGC launch 2026/27 Home Kit

RGC Unveil New Kits Inspired by the Slate Heritage of North Wales

RGC, in partnership with Oxen, is proud to unveil its new playing kits celebrating one of North Wales' most enduring legacies: its world-renowned slate industry. More than just a sporting jersey, the design is a tribute to the communities, landscapes and generations of workers whose craftsmanship helped shape the region's identity.

Inspired by the dramatic slate quarries that stretch across North Wales, the shirts feature textured patterns that echo the natural layers and striking geometry of slate rock.

The inspiration comes from an industry that transformed North Wales during the nineteenth century, when Welsh slate was exported across the globe and became renowned for its quality and durability. Today, the area's quarrying heritage is internationally recognised through UNESCO World Heritage status, recognising not only the landscape itself but also the people, communities and innovation that defined the region.

The design reflects the resilience, determination and pride shared by both the slate industry and rugby. Just as generations of quarrymen relied on teamwork, skill and perseverance, RGC continues to represent those same values every time the team takes to the field.

General Manager Alun Pritchard said:

"From the outset, we wanted this kit to tell a genuine North Wales story. Working with Oxen, we've created a jersey that celebrates the heritage of our region while giving our players and supporters something distinctive to wear with pride. The slate industry shaped the communities we represent today, and its values of resilience, craftsmanship and hard work perfectly reflect what RGC stands for."

These new kits are a celebration of North Wales—its heritage, its people and its future. The kits serve as a reminder that the foundations of the region were built not only from slate, but through the hard work, unity and resilience of generations whose legacy continues to inspire today.

We will play in the new kit tomorrow against Chester, and it will be available to purchase soon (keep an eye on our socials for updates)
