Ieuan Cornelius makes move North to RGC
RGC are delighted to announce the signing of exciting young winger Ieuan Cornelius from the Ospreys.
The 21 year-old, who can play across the back-line joins with an impressive background across both rugby and athletics. Born in New Zealand and proudly half-Māori, half-Welsh, Ieuan spent part of his childhood in Swansea through his father’s Welsh roots, although much of his rugby development came in Australia.
Standing at 6’2”, Ieuan has previously been involved with the Queensland Reds setup and most recently played for Bond University Rugby Club. During his development pathway, he was coached at U20s level and within the Men’s Elite Sevens programme by All Blacks legend Rico Gear.
Ieuan has also represented Wales at U20s level and brings pace, athleticism, and versatility to the backline as he begins the next chapter of his career in North Wales.
Speaking about joining the club, Ieuan said:
“I’m absolutely delighted to be joining RGC. The club had a fantastic season last year and the ambition, culture and style of rugby being played here really stood out to me.
“They play an exciting brand of rugby that suits my game, and it’s clear that Jon and Alun are building something special in North Wales. I can’t wait to get started, contribute to the club’s continued progress and be part of what promises to be another exciting season for both the club and the local community.”
