Season Starts at Newport
RGC will be looking to hit the ground running when they travel to Newport on Saturday for the opening game of the new Super Rygbi Cymru season.
The Gogs made a slow start to last season and will be keen to improve on that this time around, with the importance of picking up early wins and building momentum from the outset.
History is in Newport’s favour when it comes to league meetings, with RGC’s last victory away at the Black and Ambers coming back in April 2022.
It was a dramatic afternoon that saw the Gogs edge a thrilling contest 32-31, with tries from Afon Bagshaw, Zac Clow, Rhys Tudor and Brodie Coghlan, before Dion Jones held his nerve to kick a last-minute penalty and seal the victory.
RGC will be hoping for another positive result in Newport on Saturday as they look to get their 2026/27 campaign off to the perfect start.

"The hard work starts now. It’s a tough league and a long season, and a lot of success comes down to building momentum. If you can get off to a good start, pick up some wins and put a run together early on, it can really shape how your season goes.
Our focus is on these opening games in September, and they’ll give us a good idea of where we are as a group.
Pre-season gets you to the starting line, and on Saturday the starting pistol goes. We’re ready to get going.”
RGC begin their Super Rygbi Cymru campaign away to Newport this Saturday, before returning home to face Carmarthen Quins at Stadiwm Eirias on Saturday 19 September.
