SRC CUP FOCUS

The SRC Cup gets underway this month, with RGC set for a run of fixtures in the competition, including home ties against Cardiff and Carmarthen Quins.

RGC open their Cup campaign on Saturday with a trip to Pontypool, looking to build on a league victory over the same opponents earlier in the season. Scrum-half Tudur Jones believes the Cup format provides an immediate focus for the squad.

“With the Cup games happening over the next few weeks, it does give us a short-term focus with that opportunity to win a trophy,” said Jones.

“We head to Pontypool with a win there in the league behind us. Starting off with a result will set you up in this Cup format, especially with Cardiff to come at home on the 31st.

“After a week off, everyone is keen to play, and competition for places is clear to see in training. We want to build momentum, and that can start on Saturday at Pontypool.”
